We just returned from a fun filled vacation to Central Oregon and Northern California with our friends, John and Stephanie and their family. We stayed at a gorgeous resort on the Dechutes river between Bend and Redmond. We had tons of fun swimming, tubing, going to the Children's museum, seeing an eagle eat a "skinny pig" (guinea pig) at the High Desert Museum, and generally hanging out in Oregon. We drove throught the Redwood forest and visited the beach on our way to Sacramento, but snow and stopping to gawk at trees and waves cost us valuable time, and we finally arrived in Sacramento just before 4 am. Wow were we tired! But We were up and at 'em again saturday to go get Jelly Bellys and the stone slides. Our friends were kind enough to indulge us at one of our favorie restaurants, Chevy's (MMMMMmmmmm Salsa.... and tomalito), then home to dye Easter eggs! Saunday was a beautiful Easter morning, followed by the Easter egg hunt and some long naps- go figure :) . We then participated in their long standing extended family tradition- Burrito Sunday! Steph made the most amazing chocolate strawberry ganache cake, and she was nice enough to share the recipe!
On what all mothers will appreciate is a great note, Jake finally decided he was potty trained. I know the experts say never on or around a trip, but he decided (after almost a year of our begging, bribing and coersion) on the first day of our trip that he was now potty trained. I don't know if it was everyone else stopping every few hours to use the restroom or what, but by something not short of a miracle, he had only one accident the entire trip! Wah Hoo!
